Eploration 5 - Shana de Wet

For one of my observations, I observed that in developing a draft, it is very important to talk it through. I never really thought about how talking could relate to writing. However, in TCW it emphasizes that you can "generate more material by having a conversation" with someone about your topic. (p. 182). This makes sense, considering Professor Lohre has us have conversations and peer grade after writing a paper.

Another concept that I observed in my active reading is "opening up and narrowing down" (p. 173-174). This is good because it allows a writer to open up to new ideas and let lots of different ideas flow, and then narrowing down the most important topics to actually write about. I think that this concept could really help in all types of writing, especially since, in my opinion, one of the hardest parts about writing is finding an initial topic to write about. Once that is figured out, it is much easier to write.

One way that i use reviews in my life is when I shop online. Before I invest in something and buy it through the internet, I always read the reviews on the product or service before buying it to make sure that it is of good quality and worth my money. I think that reading reviews for online products has helped me to always buy good products and avoid wasting my money!
