Before the presentation, I knew about the flag, but I never really looked into it too much or knew too many details about what it meant or why it even existed. I feel well informed about it after the presentation and its pretty cool what it stood for. You guys made the information interesting, so good job! I would’ve liked to have maybe heard the song you guys said was written about the flag or the name of it was in relation to the flag, just to add an extra touch to the presentation. Overall, I learned a lot!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of the Gadsden Flag before this presentation, and you both did a good job of explaining it to me. I learned a lot and the explanation of the symbolism was done very well.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about this presentation was that it was both informative and analytical. You gave us a basic understanding of the flag first so that we could understand your analysis, which I thought you did a really great, in-depth job with.
ReplyDeleteYou might consider improving your slide design. One picture in particular was clearly supposed to be a png (transparent background), but still had the checkered background, so it was actually a jpg. I typically try to avoid pngs that have been made into jpgs in my presentation, just because they usually don't look great.
I thought this was a great presentation as the information was very well done. I would like a bit of more historical information surrounding the flag as I wanted some more information that I could relate to. I liked the modern references to flag.
ReplyDeletePrior to the presentation, I had seen the flag, but never really paid much attention to the meaning or anything. It’s all clear as to why people have these flags and why it’s iconic. There was a lot of facts given during the presentation. The one criticism I have is I’d recommend a more clear closing.
ReplyDeleteBefore this presentation, I had definitely seen the flag but didn't know that this was called the Gadsden flag. I really liked the way you explained the meaning behind the snake being broken up into pieces, representing the colonies. I also really liked the way you showed how the flag is used today, with the use of it in the Nike soccer shirts. The only thing I would've changed is making the transitions flow a bit more but overall nice job.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I didn’t see all the significance to the flag as much as you both have described it. I now see it’s importance and significance not only for its historical value, but its value to todays modern era. I really like how you encorperated present examples such as nike and political parties use, overall I liked the presentation.

I like how you include some basic background around the flag which really helped me understand it better. Something I would like a little work on is the powerpoint, I felt like you included too many texts on it.

I liked how you connected it to modern day and showed us how it is used in ads with brands such as Nike. One thing that could've made the presentation stronger is more clear transitions to make the presentation smoother, but overall you guys did a nice job.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the flag but I never knew the flag went so far back in history and had a much deeper meaning than what it seems. By the end of the presentation I could tell why it was an iconic piece of American history, especially the fact that it came from the revolutionary war. It was also used by Nike which I thought was interesting. The presentation was pretty good and thoroughly explained this is important.
ReplyDeleteI had seen the flag many times but I never knew anything about it. I really learned a lot about the flag from the presentation. I could tell you two really researched the topic in order to get all the best information. Everything was very well explained. I think the conclusion could have been Stronger but overall everything was really good! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI am really glad that you covered this topic as I feel it is more important that it is made out to be. I liked the comparison to the modern day use in the soccer flag but I felt like it could have been a bigger point and needed a bit more work.
ReplyDeleteThis presentation was very good over the information of the flag and what it was used for. I especially enjoyed the broken snake and its explanation of it unifying the colonies. One thing you may want to consider is rehearsing the presentation a few more times to help boost the confidence in the information that you were providing. This was an interesting subject to listen to and I'm glad I know more about it.

ReplyDeleteThis flag is still used to today and has been used by many people over time. I was very interested in learning more about the history of it. I didn't know that it had so much meaning and purpose. Although, I feel that you read off the slides a bit too much, but were very knowledgeable about the subject. I would have also liked to see more of how it is used today. Good presentation!
ReplyDeleteThis presentation was good, I learned some new things about an iconic US history symbol. The best part of the presentation was the visuals that you provided, as it helped to compare and show the flag. Something you could work on, maybe less factual when presenting, it seemed you just read off a list and not much else, try to relate it to people.

I liked how you short of showed the evolution of the flag, and your visuals definitely stood out to me. Something you could work on is being less scripted and showing how the flag affects today other than being a soccer symbol. Overall really great presentation!
ReplyDeleteThe Gadsden flag is very popular today, and i think more people need to see this presentation. I learned that the flag represents uniting the colonies and rebelling against the king which is not what I see many people believing it represents. I never made the connection between the flag and Metallica’s album. I think this group could have been a little more organized, I think all of the information is there, just could flow a little better.
ReplyDeleteBrittany and Kyle, I really enjoyed your presentation! I have seen this flag a few times but never really knew the story about it. It’s certainly interesting how many variations of the flag have arisen over the years and the different organizations or groups that have used it. I think what would have made your presentation a bit better would have been to be a bit more confident! You definitely knew your information so speak up and be confident in your ability to present that information! Overall, a great presentation!
