My favorite part of your presentation was how you incorporated personal experience with and at the temple and it helped us wrap our head around the information hearing it from a first-hand perspective. You guys definitely showed a personal interest in the temple and what it stood for, as well as showing that you guys were well prepared. You might consider adding some more pictures of the inside or outside of the temple just for us to see more into the detail and let us appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great way to end class on Thursday. I loved the call to action about being more accepting and I really admire this religion for being so open to everyone. The fact that the temple feeds at least fifty thousand people daily is astounding. Great presentation and knowledge of the topic.
ReplyDeleteI knew nothing about the Golden Temple or Sikhism coming into this presentation but I feel like I have a general knowledge of it now. I think the best part of the presentation was the way that Simmi's personal connection was brought into it - it really brought the whole thing to life for me. I also found the ideas of Sikhism really interesting.
ReplyDeleteAs a whole, I really enjoyed this presentation. The only thing I would change is the yellow color on some of the slides. I get what you were going for, but it hurt my eyes a bit.
The presentation was great. I liked how you guys put a lot of historical references of the conflict in the temple. I didn't realize that there was this much action in a religious place that is for praying. Overall great job!
ReplyDeleteI’ll be honest, I had no clue about anything involving the golden temple. You guys gave great facts and details, but my favorite part was the personal experiences shared. The presentation was solid. I’d only suggest a more clear video or perhaps using pictures could’ve helped. Overall, it was great work!
ReplyDeleteI think you both did a good job in presenting the information on the golden temple. Simi’s personal touch added some hook for me to stay engages in the whole time. Learning about the Blue Star was something interesting and engaging. Overall, I think you both did a really good job in presenting this information, like you had all the facts down.
ReplyDeleteI never heard of this temple before so it was definitely a new topic for me. However, I think you guys did a great job capturing the importance of it and really showed your strong knowledge about the topic. I really like how Simmi added her experiences and pictures at the Golden Temple. The only I would say is maybe a clearer video of the temple or like an interview of people that work there (maybe chefs or volunteers at the kitchen since you talked a lot about it during the presentation).
ReplyDeleteI did not know anything about the golden temple at the beginning of the presentation, but I loved learning about something new! I loved how the personal stories were added in, it showed how passionate about it you two were. I also really liked how you gave information about a local temple. It gave us an opportunity to experience something most of us knew nothing about. I would have been interested to learn more about the meals that are provided such as the history behind it. Great Presentation!!
ReplyDeleteI did not know anything about the temple before your presentation, but now I feel like I have a good understanding of it. I liked the personal references and the way that you were able to tell us about the food and the people that work there. One thing that could've made the presentation stronger is more pictures of the temple. Great job!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part about this presentation was how you brought your own personal experiences. Simmi, I think that it is so cool that you and your family try and visit the temple every year! I think your conclusion/call to action was very well written. I feel like I really learned a lot about the Golden Temple from your presentation. I would have liked to see more pictures of the temple but otherwise I thought you both did a very good job!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this place before you guys presented it but it seems like a really cool place to be. I can't believe they feed 50,000 per day, and more than that on holidays. It's also sad that it was attacked but they always rebuild it and rebuild it better than it was before which shows a lot of unity. The presentation was good and I wouldn't mind seeing the Golden Temple someday!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your presentation and the topic, I had not heard of the temple before but I fell like after the presentation I have a firm understanding of it. I liked the handout about the temple and the sources to get more information and how to get the actual experience. Also, I am very happy with the way you covered how it went from a temple to the golden temple after the battle, I felt like that made a huge impact on why it was iconic. The only thing I would say could have been improved was the slide show itself, I would have liked a few more pictures and maybe a map of where it was geographically in India.
ReplyDeleteThe golden temple was an Iconic place that I had never heard about before this presentation. The included background information on the building and the religion was a must have and it was executed very well. The most interesting part of the presentation was the ability to relate this temple to your life with your yearly trips. This showed the audience that you had first hand expereice within the temple and made the presentation even stronger. Overall a good presentation but you may want to consider giving more information about the battle that took place at the temple.
ReplyDeleteI knew absolutely nothing about this historical place before the presentation you two gave, but now I can see just how important it is and how iconic it is! I think the most interesting thing that I learned was that, the temple is surrounded buy holy water. Plus, it is also the worlds largest free kitchen, which is such an awesome thing for those in need! I would have liked to hear just more overall knowledge or facts about the Temple, as this place seems very interesting and fun to research, Great job!
ReplyDeleteThe golden temple was something new to me. I feel like Simmi having visited this place helped the presentation be a lot more interesting. I also really enjoyed their call for action. Giving us something that we could do locally was a great approach knowing that we all cant go travel to The Golden Temple. My only criticism of this would be that the group seemed to skip over or lightly touch on their comparison.
ReplyDeleteSimmi and Zach, I really enjoyed your presentation! I had never heard of the Golden Temple before, but I really enjoyed learning about it and I find it very fascinating. One of the things I found the most interesting was how many people are fed every day (50,000) and every year at the Golden Temple. I think I would have liked to learn more about the details of the Temple itself but overall it was a really great presentation!
ReplyDeleteHaving Simmi personally visiting the Golden Temple made this presentation come to life. I really enjoyed the personal evidence and learning about the culture of Sikhism. I would like to hear more about the differences between temples here in the US and the Golden Temple. Overall I could really tell you guys did a ton of research and it was very fluent.
ReplyDeleteI found this especially interesting. I knew of Sikhism, and general things about it, and I knew of this temple (because one of my best friends is Indian and always talks about things in India), but I didn't know anything really about the temple. Your guys' presentation was very informative, and I truly found the history behind the temple to be quite fascinating. Great presentation.
